Don’t Miss Ally Popovich’s Solo Exhibition “Chromadreams” at RemainReal Fine Art in September

We’re excited to announce that Ally Popovich, a resident artist at RemainReal Fine Art, a Denver art gallery, will be showcasing her solo exhibition, “Chromadreams,” this September. Running from September 6th to the 28th, this collection promises to be a mesmerizing journey into the imaginative world of Ally’s artistic vision.

Ally’s Creative Process

Ally Popovich, a Denver-based artist, has a unique approach, blending bold colors, surrealism, and collage to explore deep emotions and concepts. Her work is heavily influenced by her dreams, music, and the vibrant experiences of life. “Chromadreams” is a reflection of Ally’s trust in her imagination, capturing the essence of her vision with precision and emotion.

“For me, this show represents a journey of trusting my imagination and letting it lead the way,” Ally shared. “Each piece in this collection reflects exactly how it first appeared in my mind’s eye, influenced by my emotional state, vivid dreams, and the music that deeply resonates with me.”

A Glimpse into Chromadreams

“Chromadreams” offers an exploration of color, balance, and composition, infused with elements of surrealism and collage. Ally’s intuitive process allows her to channel her stream of consciousness into her work, creating pieces that are as spontaneous as they are profound.

One standout piece, “Coffee & Lilac,” is inspired by a lyric from Jeff Buckley’s song “Everybody Here Wants You.” The imagery of coffee brown and lilac lavender, combined with a playing card composition, offers a harmonious blend of reference models, imagined faces, and portraits of loved ones.

Another highlight, “Explaining Your Time & Bright Lights,” captures the contrast between dusk and dawn. The deep blues of twilight in “Explaining Your Time” are juxtaposed with the vivid oranges of morning in “Bright Lights,” creating a visual experience that is both comforting and universally relatable.

“A Very Gentle Wild Horse” explores the simplicity and vibrancy of primary colors, using them to highlight the powerful yet gentle nature of horses. For Ally, horses symbolize a blend of strength and tenderness, making this piece a deeply personal and meaningful work.

Finally, “Stand Absolved” is a distinctive piece that combines canvas painting with a vintage 1966 stop sign. The bold balance between vibrant color and composition in this piece embodies Ally’s recurring theme of juxtaposing intensity with calm.

Artist’s Statement

For me, this show represents a journey of trusting my imagination and letting it lead

the way. As someone who tends to overthink and meticulously dissect my creative

process, I often find myself striving to capture the essence of my vision with precision. I’m driven by a deep desire to get it right, to truly express myself and convey the emotions and concepts I hold dear. Over time, I have worked diligently to refine my ability to channel my stream of consciousness into my work.

In preparing for this show, it was crucial for me to adhere closely to my initial vision.

Each piece in this collection reflects exactly how it first appeared in my mind’s eye. My creative process is deeply influenced by my emotional state, which takes precedence and shapes the artwork that follows. Many of these pieces emerged from vivid dreams, where I envisioned color schemes and forms, while others were inspired by the music I listen to, whether I’m in my studio with headphones on or even at live shows. It’s not necessarily the literal lyrics or words that impact me, but rather the profound impressions and emotions evoked by the music.

The show, titled ‘Chromadreams’, is an exploration of imaginative uses of color,

balance, and composition, infused with elements of surrealism and collage. Through

these pieces, I aim to offer a glimpse into the fluidity of my creative thoughts and the

ways in which they manifest visually. Each work is a testament to the spontaneous and intuitive process that guides my artistic expression.
